Accessibility & Special Requirements
Limousines are built for parties, not for access. Some will suit you and some won’t, and it is far better to find out before you book than on the driveway. This page tells you what to expect and what to ask us.
The short version
Most limousines are harder to get into than an ordinary car, and a stretched limousine or Hummer cannot carry a passenger who stays seated in a wheelchair. For some bookings we can arrange an accessible vehicle instead.
Tell us what you need before you pay a deposit. Deposits are not refundable under our terms and conditions, so this is a conversation to have first, not afterwards. We never charge extra because a passenger is disabled, uses a wheelchair or travels with an assistance dog.
What to tell us
You don’t need to explain anyone’s condition. We only need the practical details that decide which vehicle will work.
- Whether anyone uses a wheelchair, walking frame or scooter, and whether they can move across to a vehicle seat.
- The folded size and weight of any wheelchair or mobility aid that needs to travel.
- Whether anyone would struggle with a high step, a low roof or sliding along a bench seat.
- The age and height of every child, and whether you want a child car seat used.
- Whether an assistance dog is travelling.
- Whether flashing lights or loud music would be a problem for anyone.
- What the pickup and drop-off points are like: steps, slopes, narrow roads or a long walk to the kerb.
What each type of vehicle is like to get into
This is a general guide to the types of vehicle in our fleet. Individual vehicles differ, so we check the details of the actual vehicle with the operator before you book.
| Type of vehicle | Getting in | Inside |
|---|---|---|
| Stretched saloon limousinesLincoln Town Car, Chrysler Baby Bentley, pink limo | Low to the ground, like an ordinary car. You duck under a low roofline and slide along the seat. | A low ceiling, so nobody can stand. Most of the seating is a long bench facing sideways. |
| Stretched 4×4 limousinesHummer H2 and H3, Ford Excursion, Lincoln Navigator, Range Rover | A high step up from the road, usually by a running board. The hardest type for anyone unsteady on their feet. | More headroom than a saloon limousine, but still not enough to stand. Most of the seating faces sideways. |
| Party busesMercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen | Steps up at the door. | The most headroom of any vehicle we offer. Seating runs around the sides. |
| Executive and wedding carsRange Rover Vogue, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Mulsanne | Ordinary car doors and an ordinary seat height. | Forward-facing seats with seat belts, usually for up to four passengers. |
Wheelchairs and mobility aids
Stretched limousines and Hummers have no ramp or lift, and party buses usually have steps at the door. A passenger who needs to stay in their wheelchair cannot travel in them.
If you can move across to a seat
Tell us the folded size and weight of the wheelchair or walker. Boot space varies a great deal between vehicles and some limousines have very little, so we check with the operator that it will fit before you book.
If you need to stay in your wheelchair
For some bookings we can arrange a wheelchair accessible vehicle through our operators. It depends on the date, the area and the chair, so ask us before you settle on a vehicle. If we can’t find one, we will tell you.
Help from the chauffeur
Tell us what help is needed, such as a steadying arm at the door or loading a folded wheelchair, and we will confirm what the chauffeur can safely do. Chauffeurs are not trained carers and cannot lift a passenger in or out. Anyone who needs that level of help should travel with a companion.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome and there is never a charge for them. In a licensed private hire vehicle that is the law: the driver must carry the dog, let it stay with you and charge nothing extra. A small number of drivers hold a medical exemption certificate, so tell us when you book that a dog is travelling and we can arrange a driver who is able to carry it.
Babies, children and car seats
Every child counts towards the vehicle’s passenger limit, whatever their age.
A child car seat cannot legally be fitted to a side-facing seat, and most of the seating in a stretched limousine or party bus faces sideways. In a licensed private hire vehicle where no child seat is provided, the law allows a child aged 3 or over to travel on a rear seat wearing an adult seat belt, and a child under 3 to travel on a rear seat without one. GOV.UK sets out the full rules, including those for minibuses and coaches.
Allowed is not the same as ideal. If you want your child to travel in a proper child seat, say so when you ask for a quote. It narrows the choice to vehicles with forward-facing seats, such as our executive and wedding cars, and we will agree with you whether you bring the seat or the operator supplies one.
Bookings for proms and children’s parties must be made or approved by a responsible adult. Alcohol is never provided to passengers under 18.
Lights, music and sensory needs
Limousines and party buses are built to be loud and bright. Expect colour-changing lights and, in some vehicles, lasers, flashing effects and a powerful sound system. All of it can be turned down or switched off.
If anyone in your group has photosensitive epilepsy, is autistic or would simply find it too much, tell us and we will put it on the booking, so the operator knows to send the vehicle with steady lighting and the music off.
If you would rather not phone
You don’t have to. Message us on WhatsApp or email us and we will handle the whole booking in writing. If you use Relay UK, dial 18001 then 020 3907 8702. Every booking is confirmed in writing, and you can ask for the chauffeur to text rather than ring when they arrive.
If you have trouble using this website or the quote form, contact us any of these ways and we will take the details from you directly.
Where the vehicle can stop
A stretched limousine is at least twice the length of an ordinary car. It cannot turn in a tight cul-de-sac or get down a narrow lane, and it cannot always stop right outside the door. If the distance to the vehicle matters, describe the pickup and drop-off points and we will agree where it will stop before the day.
What we can’t do
We would rather say this now than on the day.
- Carry a passenger seated in a wheelchair in a stretched limousine or Hummer.
- Fit a child car seat to a side-facing seat.
- Lift or carry a passenger into or out of a vehicle.
- Promise that a long vehicle can stop at the door of every address.
If the vehicle or the help you get on the day is not what we confirmed, follow our complaints procedure.
