Who we are
Limo Hire in London is the trading name of A & R Shah Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales in February 2007. Our company number is 06125188, which you can check on the Companies House register. Amar Shah founded the business that year and still runs it.
We have been arranging limo hire for coming up to two decades, and we now look after between 60,000 and 80,000 clients a year. Some of them have booked with us every year for more than ten years.
We are a small team. When you call, you speak to Dave or Rachel, and they are the same people who look after your booking from the first quote to the day itself.
What we do, and what we don’t
We are a booking service, not a vehicle operator. That difference matters when you are deciding who to trust with an occasion, so here it is plainly.
- What we do
- We help you choose the right vehicle, give you a fixed written quote, take your booking and confirm it in writing. We stay your point of contact before, during and after the hire, and if anything goes wrong we deal with it for you. How booking works takes you through it step by step.
- What the operator does
- Your vehicle and chauffeur are supplied by one of around 70 independent operators. The operator holds the licence and insurance for the vehicle and runs it on the day. We vet every operator before we use them.
- Why it works this way
- Working with many operators gives you a choice of around 350 vehicles, far more than any single fleet, and makes it possible to find the right one for your date and area. It also means we choose who we work with, and we stop using anyone who lets customers down.
Our team
-
Amar Shah
Director and founderAmar founded the company in 2007 and has run it ever since. He built the operator relationships the business depends on, some of which go back to that first year. He reviews any complaint our customer service team cannot settle, and he writes and reviews the policy pages on this site.
-
Dave
Customer serviceDave has been taking calls, handling bookings and sorting out problems on the day for more than 15 years. If your pickup time changes at the last minute or something doesn’t go to plan, Dave is usually who you will speak to.
-
Rachel
Customer serviceRachel has more than 15 years’ experience managing bookings and resolving complaints. She knows the vehicles well enough to match the right one to an awkward brief: a tight group size, an unusual pickup point, or a date when everything else is booked.
“The customer service was incredible as provided by Rachel. Very professional and helpful the entire time.”

How we choose and check our operators
We work with around 70 independent operators across London and the surrounding counties, and we have worked with some of them since 2007.
What we check before we use an operator
- Their insurance certificate.
- Their operator’s licence.
- Their drivers’ licences.
- For vehicles with 9 or more passenger seats, the vehicle’s certificate of initial fitness (COIF).
Every operator also signs an agreement with us confirming that they hold the licences and insurance needed to carry out every booking we give them. We review our operators every year.
The licences involved
A limousine with up to 8 passenger seats is run under a private hire operator’s licence. One with 9 or more passenger seats needs a public service vehicle (PSV) operator’s licence. GOV.UK sets out the rules. The operators we use hold the licence their vehicles need, and our safety and booking checks guide explains what to ask any limo company before you pay.
Insurance
Every operator holds motor insurance and public liability insurance. A & R Shah Ltd holds its own public liability insurance as the booking company.
Proof, if you want it
We do not publish operators’ licence numbers, because licence details have been copied and used fraudulently. Once you have a booking, ask and we will show you the operator’s licence and insurance for your hire.
Why we stop using an operator
We have stopped using operators for poor customer service and for unethical practices. A very cheap quote is a common warning sign in this trade: the customer pays less and is then let down on the day.
What you can expect from us
- A fixed price
- The price on your quote is the price you pay. Tolls, parking and road charges are already in it. The only extra is more time on the day, at £150 an hour. See our starting prices.
- Secure payment, never cash
- You pay by card or bank transfer through a secure payment link, so there is a record of every payment. Some limo firms only take cash, which leaves the customer with no record and no way of getting money back.
- Everything in writing
- A written quote before you pay anything, a written confirmation once your deposit arrives, and your itinerary and driver’s name before the day.
- Your deposit back if the vehicle does not arrive
- Cancellation charges apply when you cancel. When the failure is on our side, you get your deposit back. Cancellations and refunds has every figure, with worked examples.
- Someone on your side if things go wrong
- Your complaint comes to us, not to an operator you never chose. We mediate, and where a customer has been let down we make amends ourselves. When an operator let down a children’s party booking, we sent every child at the party a Pandora gift. Our complaints procedure sets out each step.
- Straight answers about access
- None of the vehicles we arrange is wheelchair accessible, and we say so before you book. We have arranged hires for passengers with limb loss, epilepsy and autism. See accessibility and special requirements.
Who books with us
Most of our bookings are family and social occasions: proms, weddings, birthdays, hen parties, stag dos, children’s parties, nights out and airport transfers. We also work with hen and stag party organisers and with hotels.
Our corporate and production clients have included adidas, Netflix and Channel 4.
We also hear from people who have been let down at the last minute by another company, often by WhatsApp outside office hours. We reply, and we help where we can.
What we arrange
The fleet covers Hummer limos, pink limos, stretched saloons such as the Lincoln Town Car and Chrysler Baby Bentley, party buses, wedding cars, executive cars and sports cars.
If you are not sure where to start, our guides on which limo to hire and passenger capacity will narrow it down, and all our limo hire guides are written from the questions customers ask us.
Where we work
Our office is in West Molesey, Surrey, close to the south-west London boundary. We arrange hires across Central, North, South, East and West London, and into the surrounding counties.
